Job Title: Structural Fitter

Job Summary:

Labor One Staffing is seeking a skilled Structural Fitter to join our team in a shipyard setting. As a Structural Fitter, you will be responsible for assembling and fitting structural, plate, and mechanical materials into various assemblies.

Responsibilities:

* Read and interpret blueprints, section drawings, and weld symbols to derive measurements and dimensions
* Unload, sort, and stack heavy steel pieces, then hoist them into place for fastening
* Fabricate, assemble, and install structural steel products such as beams, braces, pipes, and plates
* Lay out and fit pipe, beams, decks, and jackets; frame skids, bends, and elevations
* Use industry tools and equipment, including Come-a-longs, chain falls, and stop plates
* Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities; determine time, costs, resources, or materials needed
* Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with contract plans and specifications

Requirements:

* High school diploma or equivalent with previous experience in the field or related area
* Strong working knowledge skills and abilities for position
* Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions
* Proficient in safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools, and layout tools

Working Conditions:

* Able to meet all physical requirements
* Must have all required tools
* Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces
* Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
* Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required
