Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Construction Observer to join our team at Bohannan Huston Inc. in Albuquerque, NM. As a key member of our Construction Engineering Group, you will play a critical role in representing the project owner on-site, ensuring that the contractor's work is executed in accordance with design plans, specifications, and applicable standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor construction activities and ensure compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Prepare and submit detailed daily written and photographic documentation of construction progress.
  • Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and project managers to address any issues or discrepancies promptly.
  • Track material quantities and maintain accurate records.
  • Interpret plans and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Assist the engineer with RFIs and review material submittals.
  • Perform and coordinate field testing of materials.
  • Support Project Managers with other miscellaneous tasks related to construction management and inspection.

Requirements:

  • At least 10 years of experience in construction or construction observation of civil infrastructure projects.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Customer-focused with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Valid NM driver's license with no major driving violations in the last 3 years.
  • Computer skills (Word and Excel).
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and communicate with contractors about technical and project issues.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and determined to uphold project quality.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand construction plans and specifications.
  • Ability to sample construction materials such as Base Course, Asphalt, Aggregates.
  • Ability to track construction material quantities for project work.
