Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Survey Technician to join our team at Michelin North America. As a key member of our commercial fleet applications team, you will be responsible for managing and performing tire evaluations in commercial fleet applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and perform tire evaluations in commercial fleet applications
  • Organize and coordinate the test plan to include collecting performance data, analyzing results, and reporting on the performance of evaluation tires to the tire design engineers and project managers
  • Communicate effectively with department staff, sales representatives, dealers, and fleet/customer personnel using multiple media (in person, email, and phone)
  • Negotiate tire evaluations with fleets/customers and dealers
  • Order tires and manage tire inventory
  • Handle tire mounting/fitment at the fleets to ensure tires are placed in a timely manner in the correct fleet application/usage, and correct vehicles per the test plan
  • Plan visits to fleets/customers on a schedule that will allow you to measure tires consistent with the prescribed mileage/time interval outlined in the test plan
  • Inspect tires multiple times during the test as required by test plan, and complete end of test inspections to determine reason for removal from service
  • Make technical assessments of tire damages, classify and photograph damages
  • Provide periodic reports on tire performance to the tire designers
  • Organize tire shipments during and at completion field testing
  • Identify issues, assess root cause, develop action plans resolve issue
  • Manage multiple evaluations/tire surveys at multiple fleets at the same time
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the fleets that you are responsible for: business model, operating segments, state of business, and other factors that could affect the success of Michelin's tire evaluations
  • Prospect for potential new fleet resources
  • Provide training for key fleet personnel in survey methods for assisting in tire tracking and SI inventory management. Provide training to fleet personnel on mounting, balancing, and tire maintenance

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including clear and professional communication both verbal and written
  • Autonomous -be able to work with little direction, able to set priorities every day
  • Critical Thinking Abilities: resourceful problem solving
  • Analytical approach
  • Strong mechanical skills; task oriented
  • Ability to use various digital tools
  • 2 yrs technical school degree preferred

Additional Information

  • Preferably located in Fontana, CA area / San Bernardino, CA for travel within 3 hours radius
  • Starting annual salary range $80k-$85k plus benefits; company car provided
