Microsoft Corporation is seeking highly motivated and talented individuals to join our team as Research Interns. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside world-class researchers and scientists in a dynamic environment that fosters innovation and collaboration.
About the Role
As a Research Intern, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research projects that align with Microsoft's core product interests. You will be paired with a mentor and work closely with other researchers and interns to advance your skills and knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research and analysis to advance the state-of-the-art in various scientific and technical disciplines
- Collaborate with researchers and engineers to develop innovative solutions to complex problems
- Present findings and contribute to the vibrant life of the research community
Qualifications
- Accepted or currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, Information Science, Statistics, Information Systems, Economics, Operation Research, or a related STEM field
- At least 1 year of experience in conducting research and writing peer-reviewed publications
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to think unconventionally to derive creative and innovative solutions
- Actively conducting research in at least one of the following areas: personalization or adaptation of Foundation Models, LLM reasoning for complex intents, synthetic data generation for LLM evaluation and fine-tuning, understanding, verifying, or evaluating LLMs outputs, prompt optimization / compression / distillation, retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), agents, knowledge management, slow search, or model finetuning
What We Offer
Microsoft Corporation offers a competitive salary range of USD $6,550 - $12,880 per month, with a different range applicable to specific work locations. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
