Job Title: Chief Spacecraft Systems Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Chief Spacecraft Systems Engineer to join our team at ConsultNet. As a key member of our Space Systems Department, you will be responsible for providing strategic oversight and guidance on all spacecraft hardware, ensuring a balance between traditional spacecraft engineering and agile commercial approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Examine all electrical schematics for accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Assess all mechanical drawings for compliance with design specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the technical oversight of space flight hardware, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Collaborate technically with functional Directors and Engineering Management to drive innovation and improvement.
  • Supervise the Mechanical and Electrical spacecraft hardware teams, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Manage the progress and quality of hardware development, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • Contribute to all technical design reviews, providing expert input and recommendations.
  • Establish and update spacecraft hardware design processes and guidelines, ensuring best practices and industry standards.
  • Plan and implement experimental hardware testing campaigns, ensuring safe and efficient execution.
  • Fulfill additional professional responsibilities as assigned by the VP and COO.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experienced in creating, documenting, and managing space system requirements, with a strong understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Over 12 years of experience in space flight hardware design and manufacturing, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.
  • More than 12 years of experience in aerospace engineering, with a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Background in developing embedded and flight software, with experience in programming languages such as C, C++, and Python.
  • Skilled in reviewing mechanical drawings and space mechanisms, with a strong understanding of design principles and materials.
  • Proficient in electrical design, analysis, and layout, with experience in CAD software such as SolidWorks and Autodesk.
  • Bachelor's and Master's degrees in a relevant engineering discipline, such as Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience and fundamental knowledge of mechanical and electrical space systems, with a strong understanding of system integration and testing.
  • 15+ years of experience in aerospace engineering, with a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • 10+ years of experience in the design and manufacturing of flight hardware, with a strong understanding of production processes and quality control.
  • 5+ years of experience in executing research and development test campaigns, with a strong understanding of testing protocols and procedures.
  • Experience with space-based remote sensing missions, with a strong understanding of mission requirements and system design.
  • Experience on multiple launch integration campaigns, with a strong understanding of launch vehicle systems and integration procedures.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $180,000-$250,000 Base Salary (dependent on experience and technical skill set)
