Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Engineer to join our team in San Diego, CA. As a Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting safety analyses, developing safety program plans, and collaborating with program and engineering staff to ensure the safe design, integration, and test of our systems.

Job Description:

As a Safety Engineer at General Atomics, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting safety analyses for systems and components, and developing safety program plans based on knowledge of MIL-STD-882E.
  • Developing preliminary hazard lists and conducting preliminary hazard analysis, as well as conducting hardware subsystem hazard analysis and software functional hazard analysis.
  • Conducting hardware and software system requirements hazard analysis, and developing and presenting safety assessment reports.
  • Conducting hazardous materials analysis, and performing similar safety analysis.
  • Conducting software safety critical code inspection and testing, and collaborating with program and engineering staff to ensure the safe design, integration, and test of our systems.

Requirements and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in safety engineering, with a strong background in system safety and reliability engineering.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with program and engineering staff.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn new software applications quickly.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401(k) matching and paid time off.
