About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Scientific Director, Pathology to join our team at Takeda. As a key member of our Drug Safety Research and Evaluation (DSRE) team, you will be responsible for providing expert pathology and toxicology guidance to support the development of novel therapies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement safety assessment strategies
  • Lead the evaluation and peer review of pathology specimens and data
  • Develop and review regulatory documentation, study reports, and manuscripts
  • Represent Takeda at conferences and meetings with regulatory authorities
  • Manage investigations into mechanisms of toxicity and proactive management of potential safety liabilities
Requirements
  • DVM (or equivalent) and Ph.D.
  • Board certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP), European College of Veterinary Pathology (ECVP), or Japanese College of Veterinary Pathology (JCVP)
  • 20+ years of pharmaceutical drug development experience, including project team representation and due diligence activity
  • Experience with alternative modalities, such as RNAi GalNAc, lipid nanoparticles, oligonucleotides, antibodies, and conjugates
  • Strong decision-making, complex problem-solving, critical data analysis, and interpretation skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Ability and desire to take on leadership roles
