About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Developmental Support Specialist to join our team at Childrens Hospital Of The Kings Daughter.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide emotional, educational, diversionary and developmental support to children to minimize the stress of illness and hospitalization. This role is ideal for an individual who is passionate about promoting optimal growth and development and enhancing quality of life in pediatric patients.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Child Life or a related field with successful completion of a 600 hour pediatric Child Life internship.
  • Minimum one year experience in a pediatric healthcare setting preferred.
  • Certification in Child Life within one year of hire and certification must be maintained.
  • CPR Training required and/or obtained within 45 days of hire.
Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing emotional, educational, diversionary and developmental support to children to minimize the stress of illness and hospitalization.
  • Planning and implementing services in collaboration with Child Life Assistant to address the individual needs of the patient and family.
  • Supervising Child Life interns.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental and vision coverage, paid time off and professional development opportunities.

About Our Workplace

Our workplace is a normal patient care environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. However, there may be frequent exposure to communicable disease and moderately adverse working conditions due to performance of certain patient care activities.
