Clinical Nutrition Specialist

At Shriners Children\u2019s, we are seeking a skilled Clinical Dietitian to join our Portland, OR team on an on-call basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing a clinical nutrition program that provides high-quality nutritional care for patients and meets staff education needs.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pediatric clinical nutrition, with experience in orthopedics and hospital settings. They will be knowledgeable about therapeutic diets and able to use our diet manual as a resource. Additionally, they will be able to identify appropriate enteral products and supplements to meet patients\u2019 needs.
The Clinical Dietitian will work collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to assess nutrition and education needs. They will also be responsible for assessing patient learning needs, barriers to learning, and preferred learning styles to provide nutrition education accordingly.
Responsibilities:
- Assess patient learning needs, barriers to learning, and preferred learning styles to provide nutrition education accordingly
- Accurately calculate protein, calorie, and fluid requirements to meet age-specific needs of patients
- Identify age-related factors that may influence nutritional assessment
- Be knowledgeable of therapeutic diets and demonstrate the ability to use our diet manual as a resource
- Identify appropriate enteral products and supplements to meet patients\u2019 needs
- Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to assess nutrition and education needs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor\u2019s degree in Dietetics or Food and Nutrition Science
- Dietitian license in Oregon
- COVID-19 vaccination
- Preferred qualifications include 2 years of experience in pediatric clinical nutrition, 1 year of experience in orthopedics, and 1 year of experience in a hospital setting
