Clinical Educator and Pediatric Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Educator and Pediatric Nurse Specialist to join our team at the University of New Mexico Hospitals.
About the JobThis is a full-time position in the Pediatric Emergency Department with a salary range of $65,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to base pay, you may earn up to $8.00 more per hour based on your Nursing Education and National Certifications. A sign-on bonus and relocation reimbursement are also available.
Job DescriptionThis role combines clinical expertise with educational leadership to enhance patient care within our hospital's protocols. As a Clinical Educator and Pediatric Nurse Specialist, you will:
- Provide educational leadership to develop and implement clinical skills through evidence-based research and national standards.
- Initiate unit-based strategies for developing clinical skills through master clinician and master preceptor models.
- Maintain clinical skills by performing as a clinical instructor for students from the College of Nursing on home units and assisting in staffing on units.
- Develop patient plans of care incorporating evidenced-based research and national standards.
- Consult with and serve as a clinical resource for the multidisciplinary team to ensure quality patient care.
- Educate staff in the use of new equipment, supplies, and instruments for their service; coordinate in-service training and workshops for staff.
You will work closely with the Clinical Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist to plan and implement relevant curricula, monitor trends, and implement educational strategies to ensure quality standards are achieved. Additionally, you will deliver safe direct care to assigned patients, providing specialized care within nursing protocols, and assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
Requirements and QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN).
- At least 3 years of directly related experience.
- CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider certification.
- RN licensure in New Mexico or reciprocal agreement.
- Instructor certification in Unit-Required Certifications within 90 days.
