Job Overview

Miriam's Kitchen is a leading organization in the fight against chronic homelessness in Washington, DC. We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Assistant Director-Social Services to join our team.


About the Position

The Assistant Director of Social Services will play a critical role in helping our guests connect with essential services and support, including housing, mental health, substance abuse treatment, healthcare, education, and employment opportunities. This position requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of the complex issues surrounding homelessness.


Responsibilities
  • Provide direct services to homeless individuals, including case management, advocacy, and referrals to community resources.
  • Supervise Case Managers and interns, providing guidance, support, and regular feedback.
  • Collaborate with other providers and policymakers to address the needs of homeless individuals in Washington, DC.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the daily operations of the Social Services program.
  • Ensure data collection and management for the Social Services team, including data entry, reporting, and trend analysis.

Requirements
  • Master of Social Work degree with licensure at the LICSW level or LGSW with at least one year post-LGSW certification.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working in services for people experiencing homelessness, mental health issues, and/or substance use issues.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
