Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr Principal Mechanisms Engineer to join our team at Northrop Grumman. As a key member of our Aeronautics Systems sector, you will be responsible for developing, modifying, and maintaining the Mechanical Systems Design Architecture using engineering practices and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain the mechanical systems design architecture for aircraft platforms.
  • Lead a small team of mechanical design engineers in the preliminary design, development, and integration of mechanical system components and mechanisms.
  • Perform design and analysis of aircraft landing gear and general aircraft mechanisms.
  • Manage team cost and schedule, and mentor junior engineers in mechanical design.
  • Attend internal program, customer, and supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related professional/military experience in mechanical/aerospace engineering, or Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related professional/military experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance and Special Access Programs prior to commencement of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance or higher with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or under continuous evaluation.
  • Familiarity with NX CAD software and Teamcenter PLM.
  • Managerial/team lead experience.
