Manufacturing and Industrial Operations Specialist

As a key member of the Amentum team, the Manufacturing and Industrial Operations Specialist will oversee and coordinate work as part of a customer-led team, an Amentum-led team, or a combination of both.

This role will be responsible for working within the customer's manufacturing engineering process team to support customer needs and deliver technical expertise for the purpose of supporting assembly equipment commissioning and launch, as well as other operational support as necessary.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of automotive manufacturing engineering and/or plant and operations experience, which may include new model manufacturing engineering, production management, maintenance management, and launch management.

Key responsibilities will include leading commissioning activities on the plant floor for a new line of assembly equipment, overseeing and program managing activities required to achieve PPAP, cycle-time, and throughput, and providing insight to vehicle manufacturing organization on key data management systems.

Additionally, the Manufacturing and Industrial Operations Specialist will identify and drive resolution of manufacturing-related issues, interface with cross-functional activities, implement corrective actions on internal processes, lead and conduct process audits, analyze root causes, map processes, and propose corrective actions.

The ideal candidate will have outstanding leadership, interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills and be fluent in the Microsoft Office suite of software applications.

Travel may be required up to 100% as needed by the customer, and some remote work may be required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree + 5 years of relevant experience, OR 10 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • Outstanding leadership, interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and be fluent in the Microsoft Office suite of software applications

Essential Functions:

  • Unusual or Special Physical Requirements: Lifting - Must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 30 lbs. of project-related items
  • Special closing/equipment (wearing): Proper footwear, eyewear, and other required PPE for any visits to construction sites
  • Description of Work Environment: Industrial factory and office environment
  • Travel/Transportation requirements: Must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle
  • Equipment and Machines Involved in Work Tasks: Computers, printers, plotters, and other related office equipment
  • Criticality of Attendance: 20% or more overtime may be required
  • Shift: All shifts possible
  • Necessity for regular attendance: 100%
  • Urgency for punctuality: 100%
