The Program Generalist is a key member of our team at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, responsible for developing and implementing education programs at Camp within Boys & Girls Club locations and within the community.
AmeriCorps Opportunity:
This is an AmeriCorps position, offering a unique opportunity to serve the community while gaining valuable experience and education. Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times, maintaining a 1:8 ratio of children to adults.
- Develop and implement programs that promote the mission and vision of the Boys and Girls Clubs, utilizing a natural and logical progression for learning.
- Provide consistent rules and guidelines, and ensure all programming is developmentally appropriate for the age group.
- Teach diversity concepts and facilitate programs with an experiential education style.
- Assist with setup and teardown of camp, including pre-camp cleaning and landscaping.
- Communicate the Club's mission and philosophy to staff, members, parents, and the community.
- Perform administrative tasks, such as typing programs, organizing pictures, and filing forms.
- Develop program outcomes to maintain a quality program.
- Coordinate, promote, and encourage participation of members in Environmental/Outdoor Education and summer programs.
- Create a climate that energizes and encourages youth to feel safe, happy, and to have fun.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma required; some college or BS degree in an environmental or education field preferred.
- Certified or willing to be certified in AHA or Red Cross CPR PRO/AED/O2 and First Aid.
- Certified or able to be certified in YMCA or ARC Lifeguard Certification, Ropes & Challenge course facilitator.
- 1 year of full-time experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds.
- 17 years of age or older.
Skills:
- Excellent organizational, communication, and team building skills.
- Interest in informal learning settings and the environment.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid WI driver's license, good driving record, and meets state required automobile insurance minimums.
Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, the member is regularly required to sit and use hands to touch, handle, or feel. The member is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
