Senior Chemist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Chemist to join our team at Freeport-McMoRan Inc. as a Laboratory Expert. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance in laboratory testing and analysis, conducting research and experimentation, and evaluating chemical and physical properties of substances and samples.

• Oversee and perform complex metallurgical analysis of process samples or final products using wet chemistry and instrumental analytical techniques.
• Develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior chemists and technicians, and oversee the development and implementation of new analytical methods and procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the quality and accuracy of laboratory results, and participate in the development and implementation of quality control and quality assurance programs.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments and advancements in laboratory instrumentation and techniques, and recommend new or enhanced equipment or protocols as needed.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a closely related field, with a strong emphasis in Chemistry.
• At least 5 years of experience as a Chemist in a research/analytical lab environment.
• Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and techniques, including chromatography, spectroscopy, and spectrophotometry.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to analyze complex data and draw valid conclusions, and to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.

• Inorganic lab analysis experience.

• Work is performed in a laboratory or mine setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, and risk of electrical shock.
• Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment.

• A competitive salary range of $82,000-$113,000 per year.
