Job Title: Electrical Estimating Director

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimating Director to lead our estimating team at William Charles Construction.

About the Role:

The Electrical Estimating Director will be responsible for managing the firm's electrical estimating activities, including pre-bid attendance, bid management, cost databases, estimating software, and implementing/improving all estimating practices. This role requires strong leadership skills, with the ability to train and develop staff while ensuring compliance with company policies and best practices.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage daily estimating activities, including pre-bid attendance, bid management, and cost databases.
  • Implement and improve estimating practices to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Develop department protocol for best estimating practices.
  • Review and approve bids, specifications, drawings, and contracts to proactively solve potential issues.
  • Work closely with the Preconstruction Manager to achieve department objectives.
  • Act as Hiring Manager for the department, evaluating department needs, producing requisitions for new staffing resources, and conducting interviews with candidates.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A proven track record in high-level construction estimating, with experience in electrical construction.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to train and develop staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven management experience, with a history of leading, teaching, developing, and mentoring others successfully.
  • Familiarity with industry-leading estimating software, such as Microsoft Project and Primavera P6.
  • An understanding of contractual requirements, conceptual estimating, design drawings, and project specifications.
  • Ability to make decisions under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects/activities in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
