Shellfish Program Enforcement Specialist

The State of South Carolina Department of Environmental Services is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Shellfish Program Enforcement Specialist. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining the environmental health and sustainability of our state's waterways.
About the Job
We are looking for an individual with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to join our team as a Shellfish Program Enforcement Specialist. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in a natural or physical science field, such as biology, chemistry, or environmental science, or a related technical field, such as oceanography or marine biology.
In this role, you will be responsible for participating in law enforcement activities related to shellfish programs, including monitoring water quality, inspecting seafood processing plants, and enforcing regulations associated with harvesting and handling products. You will also assist in implementing ambient water quality monitoring programs and maintain all necessary administrative reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections and evaluations of seafood processing plants and facilities.
- Assist in implementing shellfish growing water sampling programs and state shellfish inspection programs.
- Maintain all necessary administrative and shellfish program reports.
- Perform other duties as required, including attending periodic staff meetings and training sessions.

Salary Range
The estimated salary range for this position is $51,125.00 - $56,830.00 per year, based on location and qualifications. Please note that this estimate is subject to change and may vary depending on individual circumstances.
