About the Role

As a Perishable Department Associate - Retail Operations Specialist at Food Lion, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service and maintaining the highest standards of quality in our perishable department. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the success of our retail operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a positive and enthusiastic atmosphere within the Perishable Department, focusing on delivering fast, friendly, and accurate customer service.
  • Courteously assist fellow associates and provide support where needed.
  • Utilize company tools such as the Average Cost Inventory System (ACIS) and ordering system (CAO) effectively.
  • Receive deliveries, code products when necessary, rotate stock, and store items properly.
  • Ensure that all merchandise is ordered, received, prepared, conditioned, and displayed in accordance with policies and guidelines.
  • Manage product levels in the Perishable Department, including meat, lunchmeat, frozen, dairy, ice cream, and other related areas.
  • Process beef and grinds as directed from the planned production tool and as requested or needed.
  • Wrap, label, weigh, and stock meat cases as required.
  • Disassemble and clean the grinder as needed.
  • Properly clean and sanitize the department.
  • Maintain variety and layout standards in the Perishable Department.
  • Effectively utilize advertising and sales promotion materials applicable to the department.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of and adherence to company guidelines, policies, and standard practice.
  • Understand and follow Food Safety and Workplace Safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Identify and correct all unsafe conditions that could lead to associate or customer accidents.
  • Report all associate and customer accidents in accordance with established Food Lion procedures to the Manager on Duty.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
Requirements
  • A high school graduate or equivalent is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills are essential.
  • The ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job are necessary.
  • The ability to use technical information to solve problems is crucial.
  • The candidate must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
  • The candidate must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $30,000 to $45,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications. In addition to a rewarding work environment and opportunities for growth and development, we also provide comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid time off.
