Job Overview:

As a Clinical Accessioning Representative, you will play a vital role in our genetics testing laboratory, ensuring that all client-supplied information is accurately entered into our databases and that each order is correctly established for downstream workflows. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity of our testing processes and ensuring that our clients receive timely and accurate results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Entry & Order Setup: Accurately enter all required client information into various databases. Ensure that orders are correctly established for downstream workflows, including applying appropriate holds to tests, attaching paperwork to the correct patient records, and documenting any issues with specimens or paperwork.
  • Specimen Integrity: Ensure that specimen labels match the provided paperwork. Affix internally generated accession numbers to the correct specimens and maintain specimen integrity throughout the process.
  • Client & Patient Communication: Contact clients and patients to verify missing or unclear information. Maintain both personal and department-wide follow-up worklists to ensure all required information is obtained.
  • Interdepartmental Communication: Collaborate with other departments, correctly notifying them about specific cases when necessary to ensure smooth workflow and accurate results.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all laboratory safety requirements, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Qualifications:
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with laboratory processes and safety protocols is a plus.
  • Experience in data entry or a similar role is preferred.
