Job Summary

At Alstom, we're seeking a skilled Arc Welder to join our team in the Rail Vehicle Manufacturing department. As an Arc Welder, you will be responsible for performing all welding operations for rail vehicle manufacturing, including operating various welding machines and setting up equipment with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform all welding operations for rail vehicle manufacturing, including GMAW, GTAW, and Resistance Spot Welding.
• Operate all welding machines, including GMAW, GTAW, and Resistance Spot Welders, with minimal supervision.
• Set up welding machines with minimal to no supervision or guidance.
• Have extensive working knowledge of material properties, methods, and basic setup and verification, adjustment, and operation of the welding equipment and hand tools.
• Read blueprints or work instructions, set up jigs and fixtures, comprehend the associated welding symbols and welding sequence.
• Safely use a variety of hand and power tools, including those used for welding and fabrication.
• Work in a safe manner compliant with all Alstom Zero Deviation Procedures and Environmental, Health and Safety regulations and guidelines.
• Weld different types of materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, and pass applicable welder evaluation Level A tests.
• Effectively communicate with customers, Engineering Department, and the Quality Department discussing design changes or material changes.
• Be adaptable, accepting different work assignments, and maintain a clean working environment.
• Train and oversee less-experienced welders to achieve all company and customer requirements.
• Assist in new process development and troubleshooting of products.
• Utilize digital technology in day-to-day work responsibilities.
• Obtain or have external certifications AWS/ANST or equivalent.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, 2-year vocational degree, or equivalent welding certificate with experience.
• Over 8 years of experience required.
• Automatic/hand-operated burning equipment, welding processes and machines GMAW/GTAW/RSW, blueprints, weld symbols, hand/power tools, adaptability, customer focus, accepts feedback and applies, offers feedback to leadership, cascades given feedback to other team members, fabrication and application of jigs/Mechanical Principles and experience, ability to follow instruction and order of operations with strong attention to detail.
