Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer III to join our team in Charlotte, NC. As a key member of our electrical design team, you will work on modification packages for nuclear power plants, preparing specifications, data sheets, calculations, and modifications to existing plant drawings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare complex engineering assignments, including specifications, data sheets, calculations, and modifications to existing plant drawings.
  • Provide support to proposals, prepare purchase requisitions, and review vendor drawings.
  • Develop cost and budget estimates, schedules, and scope of work documents.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and designers to complete projects.
  • Review and develop electrical design documents, including single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and physical location drawings.
  • Prepare auxiliary system studies, including short circuit, load flow, coordination, and arc flash studies using ETAP or equivalent software.
  • Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code and IEEE Standards.
Requirements
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering from an accredited 4-year university with coursework in power systems.
  • 5 years of overall experience in design of electrical systems for power plants or heavy industrial facilities.
  • 2 years of experience in electrical design for nuclear plants in North America, including new plants or modification of existing operating plants.
  • Proficiency in ETAP or equivalent software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare finished technical reports, spreadsheets, and presentations using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident and able to obtain unescorted access to a U.S. nuclear power plant.
Preferred Requirements
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License in any state in the U.S. with ability to obtain licensure in other states by comity.
  • 2 years of experience preparing modification packages for operating nuclear generating stations in the U.S. using the Standard Nuclear Design Process (IP-ENG-01).
  • Field experience/walk-downs of operating power plants.
  • Experience in application and setting of protective relays.
  • Supervisory experience leading other electrical engineers and designers.
