Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Health Specialist to join our team at the Municipality of Anchorage (AK). The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, administering, and implementing the department health and safety program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the department health and safety program
  • Conduct inspections of the occupational safety and health compliance system
  • Provide expertise on safety codes, rules, and practices
  • Monitor Safety Management Suite software and website
  • Present reports on occupational safety and health compliance progress

Requirements:

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent, and eight (8) years of experience in safety engineering, industrial health and safety, or a related field
  • American Red Cross First Aid Certification, and American Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification within 90 days of hire
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Organization Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification or equivalent within 90 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Constructions Health and Safety Technician (CHST) and/or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST)
  • Forklift Trainer Certifications
  • Specific knowledge of equipment safety training for scissor lift, boom lift, wheel loader, cranes, and commercial equipment
