Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a key member of our Core Laboratory, you will play a vital role in providing clinical services to our patient population.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform clinical analysis in the Department of Laboratories, ensuring accurate and timely results.
  • Maintain specific knowledge of safe laboratory practices, adhering to protocols endorsed by the New York State Department of Health and Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
  • Conduct routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, ensuring proper instrument performance.
  • Adhere to all quality control policies and procedures, ensuring the highest standards of excellence.
  • Proficient in computer protocols, performing tasks as assigned.
  • Interact professionally with nursing staff, physicians, support staff, peers, and other members of the hospital community.
  • Perform other clinical duties as assigned, including working every other weekend and passing days and holidays as required.
Qualifications
  • SL-1: NYS License as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility with 0-2 years demonstrated relevant laboratory experience.
  • SL-2: NYS License as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility with 2-5 years demonstrated relevant laboratory experience.
  • SL-3: NYS License as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility with a minimum of 6 years of demonstrated relevant laboratory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Generalist with a strong background in Hematology and Chemistry.
  • ASCP Certification.
  • Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology/Biological or Life Sciences.
  • Master's Degree.
