About the Role

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Research Manager to join our team in the Department of Pediatrics. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, contributing to cutting-edge research in pediatric critical care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations in the Alvira Lab, ensuring efficient and effective management of research projects.
  • Lead, train, and provide guidance to research staff, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve laboratory processes, procedures, and systems, enhancing productivity and quality.
  • Collaborate with Dr. Alvira and research associates to design and conduct research projects, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.
  • Provide consultation on project designs, budget, study conduct, and protocols, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • BA/BS in Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or a related science, with two or more years of recent, directly related work experience.
  • Experience in a relevant laboratory setting, preferably working with murine models of disease or primary cell culture.
  • Proficiency in basic cell and molecular biology techniques, including cell culture, western immunoblot, PCR, immunofluorescence, FACS, and gene over-expression and silencing.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience isolating and culturing primary cells from mice.
  • Proficiency in single-cell and single-nuclei sequencing pipelines.
  • Proficiency in graphic design, including Adobe Illustrator and similar software.
