Job Summary

We are seeking a Support Specialist to join our team at HumanWorks Affiliates. This role involves providing direct support to individuals with intellectual disabilities, enabling them to lead fulfilling lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized service plans in collaboration with the care team.
  • Assist residents with daily tasks, including household chores, meal preparation, and personal care.
  • Report observations of resident involvement in the daily record and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Conduct regular fire drills and ensure the residence, vehicle, and equipment meet safety standards.
  • Respond to emergency situations according to established policies and procedures.
  • Supervise medication administration and provide crisis intervention strategies as needed.
  • Maintain relationships with residents, families, and staff by responding promptly to inquiries and demonstrating a courteous attitude.
Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, along with one year of experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • The successful candidate must be at least 18 years old, ambulatory, and able to hear normally and speak clearly.
  • Possessing considerable upper body strength and a full range of motion in their arms, hands, legs, and feet is essential.
  • Daily activities may include bending, lifting up to 25 lbs, walking up to a mile, and driving for several hours.
Work Environment

The work environment consists of a home, office, recreational, and community milieus, navigable by those possessing the above-named physical requirements.

Compensation
