Job Description:

The Adjunct role provides high-quality instruction and fosters a positive learning environment in the classroom, with a major emphasis placed on teaching, supporting, and evaluating students. The incumbent must exhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask while engaging large groups of people with complex material.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach assigned courses as scheduled, designing curriculum that incorporates diversity and promotes talent in students while modeling inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Consider individual differences of students to design and support a range of appropriate learning activities.
  • Participate in identifying students with academic or other needs and respond by utilizing an appropriate resource.
  • Utilize technology appropriately to enhance courses and communicate clearly to students about expectations concerning technology use.


Student Engagement & Advisement:
  • Create a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages active and collaborative learning, student effort, academic challenge, and student and faculty interaction.
  • Encourage a sense of community among students for learning both inside and outside the classroom and refer students to available support services.


Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion:
  • Ensure the College meets its responsibilities in identifying areas of opportunity and systemic concerns while reporting complaints alleging discrimination.
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive, equitable, and productive work and learning environment where all individuals feel valued and can contribute to their full potential.
  • Ensure accessible and inclusive curriculum design and teaching strategies, promoting diversity and equity in the learning environment.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Geography or a related discipline.
  • State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to access work sites.


Compensation Details:

A competitive salary of $55.88 per contact hour is offered, with two hours equaling one contact hour. Maximum 12 contact hours per week. This part-time position offers flexibility and opportunities for professional growth.
