We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Senior Geriatric Care Nurse to join our team at Unity Psychiatric Care. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated healthcare professional to make a meaningful difference in the lives of geriatric patients experiencing mental health crises or behavioral disturbances.

About the Role:

This senior position involves providing comprehensive nursing services, including assessment, direct care, and health education. The successful candidate will be accountable for delivering patient care that meets the standards set by Unity, CMS, and licensure regulations. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise Resident/Patient Treatments: Oversee all resident/patient treatments, ensuring timely and effective delivery of care.
  • Collaborate with Physicians and Director of Nursing: Assist in treatment and examination of patients, contributing to informed decision-making.
  • Administrative Duties: Document nurses' notes, physicians' orders, discharge plans, dietary changes, reports, evaluations, and studies, maintaining accurate records.
  • Medication Administration: Order from pharmacy, prepare, and administer medications as prescribed by physicians.
  • Treatment Monitoring: Conduct and monitor prescribed treatments, such as dressing changes, blood draws, catheter changes, NG tube insertion/removal, laboratory work, and other assigned tasks.
  • Emergency Procedures: Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and notify family members/third parties in case of death.
Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you must have a minimum of six months of experience in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other healthcare institution. A completion of a Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program and current State Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license are also mandatory.

As a valued member of our team, you may be required to work unscheduled overtime, weekends, and flexible hours. Travel may also be necessary. Please note that physical requirements include frequent lifting of objects up to 50 pounds.
