The Seattle Times is seeking an experienced Press Operator to join our print production team. As a Press Operator, you will be responsible for operating a cylinder-type printing press, preparing the press for standard printing projects, and verifying the quality of printed products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a cylinder-type printing press to produce high-quality printed products
  • Prepare the press for standard printing projects, including registering forms and mixing colors
  • Verify the quality of printed products, including inspecting printed sheets and adjusting ink and water balance as needed
  • Perform preventative maintenance on the press and surrounding equipment
  • Collaborate with the production team to ensure timely and efficient production

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in a pressroom or print production environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, including safety rules and operating instructions
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
