Job Summary

Catholic Charities of Central Washington is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Program Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our Crisis Services department, you will play a vital role in implementing the Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) initiative in Chelan and Douglas counties.

Under the direction of the Diversion Program Manager, you will be responsible for managing the implementation of the LEAD program, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, and developing and managing the program's operations. Your expertise in crisis services, community outreach, and social services will be essential in connecting individuals with severe and chronic behavioral health disorders to appropriate resources and navigating them away from the criminal court system.

Responsibilities
  • Engage and coordinate with community partners to design and implement LEAD within Chelan and Douglas County jurisdictions.
  • Facilitate regular operational workgroup meetings and process to share information about program participants' situations and progress.
  • Consult with stakeholders, including law enforcement, service providers, prosecutor's office, businesses, and community safety advocates, to ensure effective implementation of the LEAD program.
  • Design, conduct, and/or oversee training activities for LEAD staff to stay current on LEAD Core Principles, substance use disorders, motivational interviewing, mental health, and harm reduction.
  • Collaborate with community partners, jail, attorneys, law enforcement, housing providers, behavioral health providers, elected officials, and court system to ensure successful implementation of the LEAD program.
  • Monitor staff efforts in linking and coordinating with internal and external interdisciplinary team members and other activities that demonstrate good clinical management of individuals with serious mental illness.
  • Ensure LEAD services meet the safety needs of the individuals served and participate in verbal de-escalation and intervention in emergent situations as indicated.
  • Refer individuals to internal and external programs to meet their behavioral health and social service needs.
  • Escalate safety concerns appropriately in emergent and urgent situations to the Mobile Crisis Teams and Designated Crisis Responders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Behavioral Sciences required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in the provision of supervision and/or management of Crisis Services.
  • Experience facilitating meetings and working with community and human services dynamics and public safety/order issues in local communities.
  • Demonstrated interest in criminal justice, homelessness, and/or drug policy reform and a willingness to approach these issues with a racial justice analysis.
  • Ability to clearly communicate core principles and support and advise others with less experience in harm reduction-based social work and in police-social work partnership.
  • Deep understanding of substance use disorder, motivational interviewing, and harm reduction strategies.
  • Knowledge of Behavioral Health Care delivery to adults and the diversion system and diversion intervention methodologies.
  • Experience providing training and consultation related to working with individuals with mental illness and strong crisis assessment and stabilization skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for communicating with persons served of all ages and staff.
  • Effective computer skills and ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Culturally competent and able to represent the agency in a professional manner within the community.
