Job Overview
The A/Z Mechanical Apprentice will work under the supervision of a licensed Pipefitter in installing, maintaining, and inspecting HVAC, Utility, and Process Piping Systems.
Responsibilities
- Work on various systems including Heating Hot Water, Chilled Water, Steam, Condensate, Compressed Air, Process Fluids, Chemical, Fuel oil, and other Fuel Related Systems;
- Handle materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, plastics, fiberglass, copper, i.e. brazed, soft soldered and pro-press;
- Measure, cut, thread or bend pipe to required angle using hand or power tools or machines;
- Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes or fixtures in structures;
- Test pipes or fixtures for leaks using various methods;
- Assemble pipe sections, tubing or fittings using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, soldering or brazing equipment;
- Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances or fixtures;
- Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors;
- Maintain strict adherence to safety rules and quality;
- Participate in site housekeeping;
Requirements
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team;
- Enrolled in trade school and/or apprenticeship program;
- Highly focused on customer satisfaction expectations;
- Good documentation and record keeping;
- OSHA 10 certification;
Estimated Salary Range
$55,000 - $65,000 per year based on location and experience;
