**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled Louisiana Coastal Biologist to provide technical and field support for various conservation, monitoring, and research projects. This role will contribute to land management, stakeholder engagement, scientific analysis, and fundraising initiatives. The successful candidate will serve as a resource for the Audubon Deltas team, possess a working knowledge of wildlife and habitat management monitoring techniques, and collaborate with internal teams and external partners, including state and federal agencies, NGOs, and academic universities.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Hire and supervise field technicians to conduct beach-nesting bird surveys, marshbird surveys, and habitat assessments.
  • Enter quality assurance/quality control data and develop analyses using statistical computing software, such as R, and geographic information systems, like ArcGIS.
  • Disseminate program outcomes through reports and presentations to various audiences.
  • Assist communication and outreach staff to develop compelling messages and releases about project activities.
  • Lead targeted bird banding efforts to advance understanding of coastal species conservation needs.
  • Recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with field surveys as needed.
  • Cultivate and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Design and implement research projects to understand species outcomes and improve monitoring, stewardship, and habitat management effectiveness.
  • Maintain field equipment and supplies, ensuring proper operation and safety protocols.

**Requirements and Qualifications:**

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, or a related field, with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience managing people and/or teams.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to adapt to various audiences and build consensus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of bird monitoring and bird banding protocols.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and experience with statistical computing software and geographic information systems.
  • Demonstrated success managing volunteers and partnering with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to work comfortably in a dynamic, non-structured environment and perform tasks requiring physical exertion outdoors in all weather conditions.

**Salary Range:** $58,000 - $65,000 per year.
