Job Summary:

As a Nursing Assistant I at UNC Health, you will play a vital role in providing direct and indirect patient care in a hospital setting. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and listed as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

Responsibilities:

• Assist physicians and other healthcare providers with routine examinations and procedures.
• Provide care and treatments to patients as outlined in the plan of care, including vital sign measurement, specimen collection, and patient education.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
• Reinforce routine teaching given to patients by the registered nurse or physician and document patient understanding of instructions.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or General Education Development (GED)
• Listed as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Prefer six (6) months of nursing assistant experience

Work Environment:

The Cardiovascular Surgical Stepdown unit is located on the 5th and 6th floors of the Heart and Vascular Hospital. The unit specializes in the care of cardiac and vascular surgical patients, structural heart patients, and patients requiring titration of inotropes and vasopressors. The team provides an environment that supports personal and professional growth with opportunities for advancement and a strong support system for new graduate nurses.
