Adjunct Faculty-Philosophy Instructor

Job Summary
Holyoke Community College is seeking a qualified adjunct faculty member to teach first-year Philosophy courses. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Philosophy or a related discipline and experience teaching Philosophy or closely related Humanities courses.
Responsibilities
- Teach first-year Philosophy courses, including Introduction to Philosophy, Mythology, and Ethics.
- Develop and implement active learning methods and use a variety of instructional strategies to assist learners in meeting course objectives.
- Remain abreast of ongoing developments and practices in the field of Philosophy.
- Arrange for the acquisition and preparation of appropriate materials and equipment necessary to meet course objectives.
- Record and report student data, including assessment of student performance and final grade reports.
- Support students' learning goals by focusing on student learning outcomes, taking into account the needs and abilities of students, and becoming familiar with academic and social support services.
- Maintain the academic integrity of the college and make reasonable provisions to accommodate individual differences.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Philosophy or a related discipline.
- Experience teaching Philosophy or closely related Humanities courses.
- Commitment to and demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
Preferred Qualifications
- Community college teaching experience.
- Experience using educational technology and/or learning management systems.
Compensation
(DCE) Continuing Education scale salary; no benefits; MCCC position
