About the Role

Duke Health is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team in Durham, North Carolina. As a key member of our Imaging Services department, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the advancement of health care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and participate in various technical tasks, tests, and determinations involving radioactive materials and measurement instrumentation.
  • Operate radiation detection and measurement instrumentation, including stationary imaging devices and scintillation gamma apparatus.
  • Calibrate and draw up radiopharmaceutical materials for patient administration, formulate radiopharmaceutical materials from pre-prepared kits, and review calibration data to detect instrument malfunctions.
  • Evaluate recorded images for technical quality, process computerized image data, and assume care for patients' physical and psychological needs during examinations.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies, prepare and maintain records concerning radiopharmaceutical receiving, dispensing, and disposal activities, and monitor the Nuclear Medicine Department for possible contamination.
  • Provide instruction and technical guidance to radiologic technology students or other advanced imaging techs, assist in training new employees, and perform other related duties incidental to the work described.

Requirements:

  • Graduate or completion of a program meeting eligibility requirements for registry/certification or currently holding required registry or certification.
  • None required beyond education/certification requirements, with Level I requiring ARRT or NMCTB certification within 12 months of employment, Level II requiring a minimum of two years' experience as a Nuclear Medicine technologist, and Level III requiring a minimum of four years' experience within the specialty modality.
  • ARRT (N) certification and/or NMTCB certification within 18 months of employment, and BLS certification.
