Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Instrument Technician to join our team at UCLA Health.

This is a per diem position in the Surgical Supply division of the main operating rooms, responsible for processing surgical instrumentation in a decontamination setting and assembling and sterilizing instrument trays.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate steam and H2O2 sterilizers, sonic equipment, washers, heat sealers, and dumb waiter.
  • Store, date, and rotate supplies according to TJC and CMS guidelines.
Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of aseptic technique, sterile fields, and the principles of an Operating Room decontamination.
  • Prefer demonstrated skills in proper maintenance and cleaning of instrumentation.
  • Correct use of various decontamination equipment and instrument/tray sterilizers.
  • Working knowledge of bacteriology and medical terminology beneficial.
  • Oral and written skills to collect and relay information accurately.
  • Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all staff.
  • Skill in performing calmly during emergent and/or stressful situations by taking appropriate action.
  • Skill in working as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift surgical trays weighing up to 25lbs and handle surgical case carts weighing 200lbs.
Compensation

The estimated hourly salary range for this position is $26.04-$34.39, depending on experience and qualifications.
