Data Governance Specialist

At Caterpillar Inc., we're seeking a skilled IT Data Analyst III-Applications to join our team. As a key member of our data analytics group, you'll work closely with developers, customers, and digital architects to bring data to our centralized data platform through ETL or SQL development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the governance framework to ensure the platform is secure, data is accurate, high-quality, and efficient.
- Assist with performance of all necessary ETL-related tasks, including requesting data access, setting up data connections, developing and improving TEST ETL procedures, scheduling, and monitoring ETL scheduled jobs, and responding to issues.
- Work with application and report developers to support project planning, training, guidance on standards, and the efficient creation and maintenance of high-quality data.
- Maintain, execute, and monitor data platform governance procedures.
- Respond to issues in the area of security access control, data quality control, database structure standards, and resource usage.
- Contribute to standard procedures, standard works, continue improvement of data quality, data security, and efficiency, as well as technical requirements.
- Develop reports, queries, and other data-centric applications to support business customers or database governance requirements.
Requirements:
This position requires a master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a related field, plus 3 years of experience in an IT data analysis and data management or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with:
- 3 years of experience in data governance, metadata management, data quality, data modeling, and data architecture concept.
- Data management and analytics (specifically: data design, data quality, reporting, analytic, ETL, and governance).
- Investigating data grief or issues, identifying root cause, and implementing solutions to address the issue.
- Tools and technologies such as: Snowflake, SQL, and stored procedures, JavaScript, Python, and PowerShell.
- Supporting data application and reporting in the area of Wear Components sourcing planning, S&OP demand management, capacity, and supply planning.
- Developing end-to-end data analytics process integration from ETL, DB data processing to PBI reporting through API and job dependency.
- Developing application standards and providing Azure resource/DevOps admin support to Python Flask-based Web application.
Telecommuting: 3 days/week.
