Surgical Veterinary Technician

Are you a skilled veterinary technician looking for a challenging role in a dynamic research environment? Kelly OCG is seeking a Surgical Veterinary Technician to join our Preclinical Research team in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance in preparing for and conducting survival, non-survival acute, and inanimate labs in Preclinical Research.
  • Administer and maintain anesthesia, recover or euthanize animals, and ensure humane animal care and use at all times.
  • Adhere to research protocol guidelines for survival and acute lab procedures.
  • Ensure proper documentation and record keeping in compliance with regulatory requirements and departmental procedures.
  • Set up and maintain lab areas, including surgical suites and support areas, with appropriate instrumentation and lab equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of instrumentation, supplies, and equipment in compliance with regulatory requirements and departmental procedures.
  • Quality-check QC documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements and departmental procedures.
  • Participate in required annual health surveillance program, including blood-borne pathogen training and respirator fit testing, as needed.
  • Complete quarterly audit sweeps to maintain regulatory and departmental compliance.

Requirements:

  • Associate of Science or Bachelor of Science degree in Veterinary Technology highly preferred.
  • RVT license is required.
  • Experience in lab animal surgical research setting preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and math skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and follow directions.
  • Team-player with excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50 lbs without assistance.
