About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Master Tugboat Captain to join our team. This is a full-time position that requires a high level of physical fitness, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the safe operation of tugboats in various environments, including rivers, lakes, and coastal areas.
  • Conducting daily safety inspections of equipment and vessel structure.
  • Maintaining accurate records of navigation, cargo, and crew activities.
  • Providing training and guidance to junior crew members.
  • Collaborating with other teams to ensure smooth operations and efficient use of resources.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a valid Merchant Mariner's Credential with a Western Rivers endorsement.
  • Have at least 5 years of experience as a Master Tugboat Captain.
  • Meet the Physical Requirements outlined below.
  • Be able to pass a pre-employment DOT 5-panel Urine Drug Test.
Physical Requirements

You must be able to:

  • Speak, read, and write English well enough to maintain vessel logs, read training materials, and follow written instructions.
  • Climb at least 3 sets of stairs or ladders in short succession (from wheelhouse to engine room).
  • Hear and respond to radio communications with significant background noise.
  • Lift, pull, push, and carry ship's stores, vessel's rigging and other equipment up to 70lbs over distances of up to 1000'.
  • Perform general vessel maintenance in tight quarters, including stooping, crouching, and crawling while using hand tools and power tools.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is between $60,000 and $80,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
