The Orleans Parish Communications District is seeking an IT Applications Engineer II - Advanced Systems Specialist to join our team. This role will support the district's reporting systems, QuickBase applications, and administrative office systems.

Job Summary:

The IT Applications Engineer II - Advanced Systems Specialist operates with greater expertise and independence than IT Engineer I roles, requiring minimal supervision. Responsibilities include vendor and product selection, managing vendor relationships, and overseeing project management for system deployments and upgrades.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot mission-critical applications for Administrative and Operations Personnel, excluding public safety applications.
  • Configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
  • Maintain and support OPCD's non-mission-critical network for administrative offices and administrative functions of 911 and 311 operations.
  • Monitor and ensure the integrity of OPCD's installed systems and infrastructure.
  • Investigate and resolve trouble tickets promptly.
  • Plan and implement system automation to enhance efficiency.
  • Liaise with vendors and keep stakeholders informed of relevant developments.
  • Perform and maintain regular data backups as needed.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Recommend and implement system improvements, including hardware and software upgrades.
  • Assist with end-user systems training as needed.
  • Notify appropriate personnel of critical issues with communications or computer equipment.
  • Attend required training courses and sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or five (5) years of equivalent experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience in IT, database management, application configuration and management, or networking, focused on Enterprise-Level system configuration and maintenance.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, effective with individuals and groups.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Willingness to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays, with potential for reassignment based on agency needs.
