Fire Alarm Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Alarm Technician to join our team at Arrow Electric Inc. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical systems and a passion for ensuring the safety and security of our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, repair, and inspect smoke and fire detection systems, including fire alarm wiring, panels, and peripheral equipment.
- Install cabling and electrical wiring, as well as access control systems and related equipment.
- Identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and inspect, repair, or replace smoke/heat detectors and test fire alarm systems using diagnostic programs and equipment.
- Ensure work is in accordance with relevant codes and perform other general jobs as required, including installations and cabling.
- Travel to job sites to complete work and install equipment.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3+ years of electrical experience in a construction environment.
- NICET II certification with 5+ years of verifiable experience preferred.
- Journeyman license and completion of an accredited apprenticeship preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in installation, maintenance, and repair of fire and smoke detection systems and equipment.
- Knowledge of applicable building codes, regulations, or ordinances.
- Ability to operate drills, conduit benders, drill presses, cable pullers, meters, hand drills, hand tools, and power tools.
- Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner, read blueprints and schematics, and use diagnostic software and equipment.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
Work Environment:
This job operates in an office and field environment, with the field environment being on construction sites or inside existing buildings. Working conditions can change dramatically from one job to another.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Other work tasks will require:
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet customer requirements.
- Travel to job sites and customer locations within assigned regions.
- Overnight travel may be required.
Physical Demands:
This is a largely active role, requiring considerable use of arms and legs, and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. Some specific demands may include:
- Capable of performing physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
- Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
Additional Notes:
Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm. Early arrival and/or overtime may be necessary.
