Academic Advisor

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Academic Advisor to join our team at Harper College. The successful candidate will provide educational planning and support to students, helping them achieve their academic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement academic plans for students, taking into account their individual needs and goals.
• Provide guidance and support to students, helping them navigate the college experience and overcome challenges.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure students receive a comprehensive education.
• Stay up-to-date with college policies and procedures, ensuring students receive accurate information and support.
• Develop and maintain relationships with students, faculty, and staff to promote a positive and supportive learning environment.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, with a Master's degree preferred.
• At least one year of experience in student advising or a related field.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse populations.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to student success.

Working Conditions:

The work is primarily indoor and sedentary in nature, with standard office equipment used to perform the duties of the job.

Supervision:

Under the general supervision of the Director of Advising Services or Director of New Student Programs, with oral and written instructions as needed.
