Research Services Specialist 2

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Research Services Specialist 2 to provide personalized research services support to internal faculty and staff members, as well as external research colleagues. The successful candidate will consult on research and regulatory issues, identify solutions, and develop improvement processes.
Key Responsibilities- Provide research support consultation and services to all levels of research colleagues.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate current services for continual improvement and the development of new research services.
- Educate the research community regarding resources available to clinicians and researchers to improve all aspects of the research enterprise.
- Serve as the central resource for the research community to provide expertise and guidance on complex issues, operational goals, business strategies, ethical considerations, regulatory mandates, and institutional policies related to human research protections.
- Advises and assists the Investigator, key study personnel, and other team members in the development of data tools, record keeping, study budgets, process improvement plans, and efficient timelines for research studies.
- Coordinate the ongoing analysis and modification of protocols, and recommend amendments to study protocols as appropriate.
- Provide ongoing assistance, consultation, and education to research personnel regarding quality assurance audits, clarify data discrepancies and deviations from standing operating procedures, and analyze results to assist in the development of a preventive action plan for potential future discrepancies.
- Assist investigators with developing effective tools to successfully conduct a research protocol analysis related to study costs and risk assessment.
- Technology Services: Demonstrates the ability to broaden the institutional and national research community's exposure to available digital tools and products, provides training, education, and assistance on use of digital services, collaborates with technical professionals to inform the build, maintenance, and enhancement of electronic platforms and systems to support the needs of clinical researchers and projects, and helps develop content and design usability and accessibility to determine user experience.
- Regulatory Services: Demonstrates the ability to assist investigators with federal, state, and local laws, guidance documents, GCP/ICH guidelines, VUMC Institutional policies, and HRPP/IRB policies and procedures while meeting the objectives of the VUMC research community, has exposure to identifying solutions and developing improvement processes for research and regulatory issues, and with guidance, assists in managing and facilitating IRB regulatory assurance(s), contracts, agreements, and IRB policies and procedures.
- Research Services: Demonstrates proficiency in advising and assisting researchers and clinicians in improving the quality of research and grants by identifying collaborators, connecting investigators with resources/funding opportunities, and developing tools to further the research enterprise, identifies barriers to optimal study execution and formulates, implements, and assesses solutions to those barriers, identifies resources needed for the timely & successful completion of research projects, and provides available resources for preparing grant proposals, identifying study funding, ongoing financial management safety committees, IRB submissions, scientific review submission, study feasibility, recruitment methods, data management, and study implementation.
