Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Facilities Mechanic will install, maintain, and repair building system equipment components, including motors, pumps, bearings, fan coils, exhaust systems, filters, emergency lighting, and dining specific equipment. The successful candidate will provide excellent customer service and produce high-quality building equipment maintenance work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair building system equipment components
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Produce high-quality building equipment maintenance work
  • Work a second shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 3pm-11pm
  • Be available to flex schedules and respond to requests outside of normal working hours
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience in building mechanics, including diagnosing problems with mechanical drives, fans, motors, and replacement of bearings and shafts
  • Valid motor vehicle operator's license
  • Ability to operate UNH lift and understand safety procedures
  • Knowledge of methods, tools, and hazards of the trade
  • Ability to inspect equipment, determine malfunction, and make necessary repairs
  • Knowledge and ability to use computers, tablets, smartphones, and software systems to perform work duties
  • Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job
  • Ability to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Electrical Safety 70E certification
  • Bearings, Bearing and Shaft Seal Maintenance certification
  • Pump Installation, Repair and Maintenance certification
  • Heating Systems Equipment certification
  • OSHA 10 certification within the first year
