At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development of reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems. We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Structural Engineering Manager to lead the New Glenn Stage 1 Structures group.

This role will be responsible for implementing the design, development, test, and production of the first stage heavy lift vehicle structures scope, including ortho/iso-grid panels, splice plates, thermal protection systems, composites, and various other primary structure sections. The successful candidate will have a strong background in complex structures development and experience in managing multi-functional teams during design, procurement, and build cycles of aerospace/aeronautical vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet and exceed aggressive schedule, cost, and performance requirements.
  • Plan and coordinate the resources vital to successfully design, build, test, and certify the New Glenn Stage 1 structures scope.
  • Lead structures design and development through the entire lifecycle to include production.
  • Identify, supervise, and mitigate risks to technical performance, cost, and schedule.
  • Lead team to develop and document system design to support operations, integration, manufacturing, and quality.
  • Lead and develop the team through hiring, training, and mentoring while providing technical leadership.
  • Meet recurring cost target and lead risk and opportunities to per flight cost requirement.
  • Support commercial and government launch customer requests for information, proposals, and alternate use cases.
  • Establish, maintain, and report on team safety products, fault trees, reliability, and operational hazards.
  • Develop project summary presentations for customer reviews, internal team meetings, and support to Blue Origin communications team.
