Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Reputation Management Expert to join our team at Northwestern Mutual. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate communications, with expertise in issues management and crisis communications.

About the Role

This role reports to the Senior Director, Corporate Reputation and is part of the company's Strategic Communications team. As a Reputation Management Expert, you will be responsible for supporting the Senior Director in creating an annual Corporate Reputation strategic plan that outlines quarterly objectives, strategies, and tactics to protect the company's reputation and minimize reputation risk.

You will also create and maintain an annual team planning calendar that maps issues on a macro and micro level across national trends, industry milestones, and key dates for the company. This will involve reviewing planning materials monthly and quarterly to ensure the team's efforts are on track to meet team goals.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Supports the Senior Director in the creation of an annual Corporate Reputation strategic plan.
  2. Covers writing and executing strategic communications plans and written materials that support business partners.
  3. Develops group materials to map reputation risk issues on the horizon.
  4. Creates and maintains a dashboard of emerging issues of importance to Northwestern Mutual.
  5. Vets and assesses internal and external business requests.
  6. Guides external agencies in developing research and strategic communications materials.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business, Political Science, or related field.
  • A minimum 10 years of experience in professional public relations or corporate communications within a large company, firm, or agency.
  • A minimum of 3 years hands-on experience with issues management and crisis communications.
  • Strong problem identification, judgment, resolution, and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to build positive, collaborative relationships across a diverse set of business partners and functions.
Compensation

The estimated salary range for this position is $90,930 - $168,870 per year, depending on factors such as skills, education, training, credentials, and experience.
