Family Medicine Physician

Ascension St. John Hospital - Family Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Family Medicine Physician to join our team as a Faculty member. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the education and development of our residents.
Responsibilities- Evaluate and treat patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills, coordinating discharge planning with case management.
- Recommend, participate in, and work to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost-effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
- Accept patient referrals from other physicians, acting as admitting, attending, and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses.
- Participate in academic programs, such as medical education and research, as requested.
- Provide appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements, appealing all denials in a timely manner.
- Participate in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on-call schedules.
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
- Completion of an accredited Family Medicine residency program.
- Board eligible in Family Medicine required.
- Board certified in Family Medicine with experience and passion for teaching preferred.
- Experience in research and an area of interest within Family Medicine that may enhance the educational experience of the residents is highly desirable.
Ascension St. John Hospital was founded in 1952 and is a regional referral teaching hospital. We provide comprehensive accredited training to over 200 resident physicians, 30 fellows, and 56 core medical students in accordance with ACGME requirements.
We are a Level I Trauma Center with a Chest Pain Center and Heart Failure Center accreditation, certified Stroke Center with advanced certification by the Joint Commission, and named a Blue Distinction Center in both cardiovascular and orthopedic care by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network.
We average 28,000 admissions, 3,000 births, 15,000 inpatient/outpatient surgeries, and over 105,000 ER visits annually.
