About the Role

At the J.R. Simplot Company, we are seeking a skilled Electrical Systems Specialist - Instrumentation to join our team at the GF Plant in Ontario.

This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary of $40.36 per hour and 12-hour shifts with overtime paid after 10 hours worked each day.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of all electrical systems and electrical/electronic components on site. This includes troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, programming, documenting, upgrading, and installing equipment and systems.

The ideal candidate must have a thorough working knowledge of electrical systems and safety practices, as well as experience with analog and digital instrumentation, programmable logic controllers, SCADA systems, and other control systems.

You will also be required to ensure the calibration, installation, and documentation of electrical/electronic equipment, control systems, and instruments to meet operational and maintenance goals.

In addition, you will be responsible for training new Process Control Technicians and providing ongoing training for other team members.

Schedule: 12 hour shifts, overtime is paid after 10 hours worked each day

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Must hold a certificate of completion from an approved 2-year trade school, or equivalent experience in the instrumentation/process control trades
  • A minimum of twenty-four months of instrumentation experience in a manufacturing facility or equivalent
  • Thorough working knowledge of electrical systems and electrical safety practices, analog and digital instrumentation, programmable logic controllers, SCADA systems, and other control systems
  • Basic computer skills, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and basic DOS and windows commands
  • Able to use electrical and electronic test equipment for performing maintenance and troubleshooting

Other Information

Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Must be able to complete training on the safe operation of the lift truck and successfully pass and maintain certification requirements
  • Must be able to complete training on the safe operation of the aerial lift and successfully pass and maintain the certification requirements
  • Must be able to complete training on fall protection and must meet and maintain fall restraint requirements
  • Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the Company
  • Ensures that additional accountabilities as may be required by management be handled in a manner necessary to meet operational Divisional standards
