Exponent, a leading engineering and scientific consulting firm, is seeking a highly skilled Thermal Sciences Associate to join our team. Located in Menlo Park, CA, Phoenix, AZ, or Denver, CO, this role will involve applying fundamental engineering and scientific techniques to real-world problems in failure analysis risk mitigation and product development.

Job Description

This position requires analyzing and distilling complex data, performing laboratory experiments and analytical or computational modeling, reviewing and understanding experiments and simulations performed by clients, researching and parsing data from published literature, conducting risk assessments, preparing written reports, proposals, and presentations, and managing projects under deadlines.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have a Ph.D. in Aero-Astro, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical, Nuclear, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field, with a practical and theoretical understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and combustion. A background in data sciences and/or electrical engineering would be a plus but is not required.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Aero-Astro, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical, Nuclear, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field
  • A background in data sciences and/or electrical engineering (a plus)
  • Practical and theoretical understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and combustion
  • Outstanding ability to apply fundamental engineering concepts to new problems
  • Hands-on experience in designing and executing experimental programs
  • Familiarity with technical documents and equipment
Compensation and Benefits

The base salary for this position is $USD 130,000.00 - USD 160,000.00 per year, depending on experience and capabilities. Total compensation includes bi-weekly bonuses for high-intensity efforts, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.
