Job Title: Recreation Management Professional - Avon Park Air Force Range

About the Position:

The Colorado State University is seeking a skilled Recreation Management Professional to join our team at the Avon Park Air Force Range. This full-time, salaried position plays a vital role in the administration of public hunting and recreation programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sell and process recreation permits according to standard operating procedures.
  • Check incoming recreation users for compliance with regulations and maintain use records.
  • Evaluate and implement strategies to improve recreational experiences and user safety.
  • Supervise another recreation management technician and provide guidance on best practices.
  • Maintain accurate recreation reports and sign-in logs.
  • Coordinate with Base Operations to disseminate information on recreational status.
  • Collect and record biological data from game species and harvested game animals.
  • Conduct wildlife surveys and analyze data to inform program decisions.
  • Develop and deliver outreach presentations to engage the public and promote the program.
  • Foster partnerships with local communities and stakeholders to enhance program impact.
  • Manage budgets related to recreation programs, including resource allocation and expense tracking.
  • Analyze complex issues within the public hunting and recreation program and develop effective solutions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in parks and recreation management, wildlife management, or closely related field.
  • Experience in wildlife surveys and the collection of biological data from game animals.
  • Proven ability to interact effectively with the public in an official capacity.
  • Strong public speaking skills and experience delivering presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • A valid driver's license or ability to obtain one by the employment start date.

Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
