The Hawaii State Department of Education is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Speech Language Pathologist to join our team. As a Speech Language Pathologist with the Hawaii State Department of Education, you will have the opportunity to work with students in various schools within the Windward District, providing essential services to support their communication needs.

Job Summary

This is a 10-month position that requires a master's degree in speech-language pathology or communication sciences and disorders from an accredited college or university. The ideal candidate will possess a valid Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and a valid Hawaii State Speech Pathologist License. Experience as a licensed Speech Language Pathologist is also required for this position.

About the Role

The Speech Language Pathologist will be responsible for assessing student communicative performance, conducting activity and environmental analysis, analyzing and interpreting data, collaborating with team members, and providing speech-language services to address the unique needs of students. They will also be expected to update team members on progress, recommend changes or rescission of services when needed, and collaborate and consult with parents and school personnel.

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, and other staff members. They will also be able to demonstrate empathy, patience, and understanding in working with students who may have diverse learning needs.

Requirements
  • Masters degree in speech-language pathology or communication sciences and disorders from an accredited college or university
  • Valid Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the ASHA
  • Valid Hawaii State Speech Pathologist License
  • Experience as a licensed Speech Language Pathologist
